Terms of service

Last updated 2 September 2026

Not ready to publish: the operator’s legal entity, governing law and a monitored contact address are still placeholders below.

These terms cover a restaurant’s use of Partynotes, software operated by [LEGAL ENTITY] for taking and managing private-event bookings. Using the service means agreeing to them.

This is a pilot

Partynotes is in a limited trial with a small number of restaurants. During the pilot it is free, and both sides should read that plainly: there is no charge, and there is correspondingly no service-level guarantee, no uptime commitment and no promise that a feature present this month is present next month.

The intended price after the pilot is $79 per venue per month. No restaurant will be charged without being told first and agreeing to it.

The data is yours

Everything a restaurant puts into Partynotes — its customers, bookings, menu, prices and correspondence — belongs to the restaurant. We store and process it to run the service and for nothing else. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to train generalised AI models.

It can be exported at any time from the app, and deleted on request. If the service ends, for any reason, a restaurant gets a reasonable opportunity to take its data with it.

Using it sensibly

  • Do not use it to send unsolicited bulk email. It exists to reply to people who contacted the restaurant, not to broadcast.
  • Keep accounts to the people who should have them. Access is by invitation, and an invitation is a decision.
  • Do not attempt to reach another venue’s data, or to interfere with the service for anybody else.
  • Follow the law that applies to you, including the rules on handling your customers’ information.

Payments happen elsewhere

Partynotes does not take payments and never touches a card. Deposits and balances are taken on the restaurant’s own terminal. Amounts shown in the app are what was quoted, not a record of money we have handled.

It follows that any dispute about a payment is between the restaurant, its customer and its payment provider. We can show what was quoted and when; we cannot refund anything, because we never received it.

Nothing is sent without a person

Where a restaurant connects its mailbox, Partynotes writes confirmations for it — but every message is a draft until somebody at the restaurant reads it and presses Send. The software does not email a restaurant’s customers on its own, and the restaurant remains responsible for what goes out under its name.

What we do and do not promise

We will look after the data carefully, keep backups, and tell restaurants directly about anything that affects them. We are not promising the service is uninterrupted or free of faults, and during the pilot it may be taken down for changes.

The service depends on others — Google for mail and calendars among them — and those can fail independently of us.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, and because the pilot is provided free of charge, our liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to what has been paid for it, which during the pilot is nothing. We do not exclude liability for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Nothing here removes a restaurant’s own obligations to its customers — a booking is between the restaurant and its guest.

Ending it

A restaurant may stop using Partynotes whenever it likes, and can export first. We may end the pilot with reasonable notice, which will not be less than 30 days except where the service is being misused or the law requires otherwise.
